The Kentucky School Plant Management Association,
commonly referred to as KSPMA, is a statewide organization dedicated to enhancing the educational process for students and staff through effective and proper plant operations. Our emphasis is on knowledge delivery to all staff through regional and statewide training, written communications and an annual conference for all personnel responsible for plant maintenance and operations, housekeeping, security, energy, and facility management.

Our membership is diverse and reaches a broad spectrum of activities. Our members are employed by public or private educational organizations, governmental agency’s, or "not for profit" entity’s, which are engaged in school plant management. Their job description includes authority for, approval of, supervision of, care of, maintenance of or correction of school plant management functions, buildings, grounds care, control systems, operations and/or real property services. The broader responsibilities of school plant management embrace facility planning, maintenance, operations and custodial care of all real property. However, more abstract responsibilities include: property acquisition, capital budgeting, warehousing, inventory control, construction, energy conservation, utilities, physical school and grounds safety and security, environmental protection, statistical research, technology/telecommunication networks and backbone, site and athletic facilities care and/or governmental regulation compliance.

Though membership is predominantly public schools (K-12) personnel including District Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents for Operations, Finance, etc., Maintenance Directors, Custodial Directors, Maintenance & Housekeeping Supervisors, Security, Energy and other operational staff, we encourage membership from private schools, college and university personnel as well who are employed in facility operations and maintenance.

The annual convention is held each fall, where members view the newest equipment and materials, discuss common problems with others in their field, and receive the latest information on pertinent topics from professionals. They enjoy a variety of social activities with friends, old and new.

Our membership attendance at the Conference is approximately 275-300, with an extremely high booth visitation by the membership. Membership represents school districts from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
